Blogathon #19-Kiva Stories #10

Johari Abdallah

Johari is a member of the Kajificheni borrower group in Ilala, Iringa. She is fifty-eight years old and married with six children, who are between the ages of twenty-nine and forty-two. She also cares for three other dependents.

Johari started her own charcoal business ten years ago. She works twelve hours a day and earns a monthly profit of approximately $80.

This is Johari’s second loan from BRAC Tanzania, one of Kiva's field partners. She has requested 400,000 TSH in order to buy more charcoal. With the additional profit she gains from the use of this loan, Johari hopes to get more food for the family and to expand her business.
